Based on their form so far this season Benhrama's name goes on the team sheet ahead of Bowen's for me.

I'd love Fornals a bit more if he's not in the starting 11 Wednesday.. Paqueta and Benrahma please

Fornals - you have to love him. He really does seem to love playing for West Ham.

Boring first half. Poor shape, little running and less ambition. Secon half saw an improvement and we just about deserved the points.
Let’s hope that injured players will soon be back and that the new signings all settle in well.
Two tough games this week and anything over 2 points would be a real plus.

Bowen would have buried that one on one last season.

I’d imagine he will, which is why he came off today. There is going to be rotation this season now we finally have solid options.

Although saying that, Antonio seems to fucking love playing and scoring against Spurs so who knows. They could both start with Bowen dropping to the bench.

Neither Zouma or Dawson are comfortable enough to carry the ball out so Rice ends up having to go deep to take it off them.
Kehrer will carry the ball and that allows Rice to be further forward and able to receive it closer to players up the pitch.
One of our biggest problems is the gaps between the lines and the isolation of Scamacca.
Quicker ball movement & carrying it into midfield will help that.

Forest playing quite well and forcing Tottenham back but looking vulnerable on the break.
33yo Perisic playing left wing back, doubt he will be able to do that again on Wednesday.

Wasn’t pretty for long periods but a win is a win.

Hopefully build some confidence.
Benrahma best attacking outlet again. Be interesting to see if scamacca gets the nod for spurs.

Forest are playing well… Spurs defense is vulnerable, especially Sanchez at the back he’s an accident waiting to happen.

Great and much needed result against the Spurs of the midlands. Hopefully it will contribute towards another relegation for them.

Nerve settler, couldn’t have come at a more important time. Jury still out on Moyes tactics but main thing is they worked in the second half.

About time we got a bit of luck. We just needed to win.
bIn terms of performance it was lazy, passive and the passing was shocking. Repeatedly gave away the ball cheaply and was shoved off the ball.
Thought the ref was never going to give us anything. We were fortunate the goal was ruled out. It was the right decision but had that counted I wasn't seeing enough fight in the side to get back in the game.

I thought Scamacca played well but was woefully isolated. He has to start but he needs service. Really hope Paqueta can build an understanding with him as I think he could be really good.

The last 25 minutes the real Rice turned up and all of sudden he was getting forward, causing problems and of course supplied a great pass for the goal. First time this season I've seen what we have got used to last couple of seasons.
Look it was a pretty messy match but I thought Kehrer was excellent and Zouma solid. Moyes has a lot of work to do to get them playing well together. Bowen looks to be struggling confidence wise - He'll come good but needs the pressure off him.

Hope we can build on this Wednesday. Hopefully they can put in a 90 minute performance and get something for it.

Hopefully Paqueta is taking the top off a biro at this moment with a contract in front of him.
Looks like someone who can pass a football properly.
Much needed.

Awful 1st half that was predictable the moment I saw the team selected and formation.

2nd half better but what a lucky goal from Fornals. Had that deflection not gone in 0-0 was a fair result for two poor sides. As far as I'm concerned, that game should have been a convincing win.

If I was Paqueta I would expect to walk into this team but I somehow doubt that will happen. Unless Moyes has a complete downer on Benrahma and is looking for reasons to drop him.

Agree fraser, no surprise when the only player to turn up this season so far but somehow still didn't start ahead of some fucking disgraceful players, Benrahma, completely changed is in terms of going forward, and Scamacca had started to get into the game.

I noticed at one point near the end of the first half, when Fornals had time and space to play Scamacca in, and played a fucking shit ball as per usual, Scamacca had a proper go at him.

He looked perplexed at times, hard to blame him.

Re: ⚽ Aston Villa v West Ham - Official Match Thread - Preview
Scamacca was starved of any real service again in that first half. As one report in the Standard said, the idea of 5 at the back with Rice and Emerson as the defensive pivot depends on Fornals and Soucek filling the gap and linking defence to attack. They just didn't make that happen or are simply unable to.

Hence the switch to 4-2-3-1 linked up the play and the boost of Benrahma moving into pockets of space was enough to see the possession stats reversed and us dominate the play. Tactics and formations eh?

Thought like most that Zouma was our best player over 90 mins and he and Kehrer were solid. Someone like Kehrer with pace is what we have missed for a long time in the CB area and a reason why Aguerd was purchase IIRC?

Anyway, the need for new options in central midfield remain but hopefully being addressed tomorrow ( strokes rabbit's foot and lucky horseshoe).

Awful performance first half good to see the manager make a quick change and although Benny didn’t really play well when he came he was finding a lot of pockets of space and completely changed the dynamic of the game and we dominated the second half without actually playing well
Thought scamacca did well with the limited and poor service he got
Emerson was poor
Thought the German lad got better but still looks like he would be better at fullback
Our good players still seem to be struggling for form hopefully these three points will take the pressure off and another couple of fresh faces through the door before the window shuts and a win against the deluded cunts and the future will look very different
Massive win today and tbf if you’d offered me a poor performance and scrappy 1-0 win i and anybody with any sense would of bit your hand offf
